I’m Kevin Abbott. I’m a professional voice artist, veteran radio host and accomplished public speaker and emcee based in Cape Town, South Africa.

My Story

This all happened by accident.

Come again? Well, I’d had confidence in my voice from a young age. Some musical, stage, improv, and vocal training (I was in the school choir, and I even took singing as a subject at school).

By the end of high school, I loved the stage and performing.

But I’d never considered that my voice could become a source of income.

I was volunteering my time at a local community radio station assisting with the admin, when a production staff member asked me if I could voice a promotional advert for the station.

The result sounded good. Which was fortunate because nowadays that is exactly what I tell people not to do

In fact, it turned out to be lucky for me too, because it started me on a journey that would lead me to where I am today. That promotional recording opportunity soon turned into hosting a successful and regular drive show on the station, followed by a position presenting for a local in-store retail radio station, and later a short career in radio journalism.

I continued to hone my voice acting skills while also pursuing opportunities to emcee events. This led to a good deal of compere work where my quick wit and ready sense of humour was a big success among corporates and wedding parties.

In today’s COVID world, my focus is on continuing to expand my business internationally.

My dream is to emulate the legendary Sir David Attenborough, a man of incomparable talent who was as at home behind the mic as he was in front of a camera.

I was once told that one’s dreams should be really big. That’s about as big as it gets for me.
